Eric G. Calhoun

Eric G. Calhoun is a trial and litigation attorney concentrating in the areas of complex business litigation, predatory lending, and class actions. Mr. Calhoun handles both trial matters and appeals. He is admitted to practice in the state courts of Texas, New York, and Illinois. He has also been admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Ninth and Federal Circuits, and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Western, and Eastern Districts of Texas, Western and Northern Districts of New York, Western and Middle Districts of Tennessee and the Southern District of Illinois. Mr. Calhoun is a member of the Dallas Bar Association, Dallas Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice.
Mr. Calhoun has achieved multimillion dollar jury verdicts, as well as defense rulings.
In addition, Mr. Calhoun has been co-counsel for plaintiffs in class-action settlements aggregating in excess of one hundred million dollars. Representative cases briefed and argued by Mr. Calhoun include Mims v. Stewart Guaranty Title Insurance Company, 590 F. 3d 298 (5th Cir. 2009) and City of El Paso v. Heinrich, 284 S.W. 3d 366 (Tex. 2009).
Mr. Calhoun received his undergraduate degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1982. He obtained an MBA from the University of Illinois in 1987, graduating with Highest Honors, and he obtained his law degree from the University of Illinois that same year, graduating cum laude. While in Law School, Mr. Calhoun received an American Jurisprudence Award for academic excellence.
Before joining Travis & Calhoun, Mr. Calhoun practiced at several prestigious law firms, including the New York office of Shearman & Sterling, the Dallas office of Bickel & Brewer, and the Dallas firm of Lawson, Fields & Calhoun. Mr. Calhoun also was a judicial law clerk to two United States District Judges.
In 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010, Mr. Calhoun was voted a Texas Super Lawyer by his peers in the area of business litigation as published in Texas Monthly magazine. Mr. Calhoun is Martindale-Hubbell rated AV preeminent by his peers.
